Journey to the End of the Night: A race across the city… and through time
There’s nothing quite like seeing London transformed into a giant playground on a sunny Saturday afternoon, especially when time travel is involved.
Imagine that:
“You are invited to take part in a most unique — and supposedly safe — Time experiment in the heart of London, the city of spires. But something went wrong.
The machine ruptured, tearing through reality and scattering its elements across the city. Now, displaced souls from distant eras wander lost — and strange adversaries infected by a time parasite hunt in the shadows.
You were caught in the blast — not fully infected but changed just enough to slip between fractured timelines. That makes you one of the few who can help. Can you solve the riddles of the lost, recover what was broken, and outrun the infected through the twisting alleys of time?
Come challenge yourself and live this journey to the end of the night: Time rupture!”
Journey to the End of the Night is a city-wide game blending adventure, strategy, and endurance. Players must race to reach a series of checkpoints scattered across London, completing tasks along the way, all while avoiding Chasers trying to catch them. Get tagged, and you join the Chasers. Stay ahead, and you race to the finish. It’s a fast-paced mix of street game, chase, and urban exploration.
Photographing the Journey definitely didn’t mean standing on the sidelines. This was by far the most energetic event photography experience I’ve had to date. I was racing between checkpoints alongside the players, camera in hand, trying to stay hydrated in the summer heat while capturing as many fun, spontaneous moments as possible. It was fast-paced, unpredictable, and full of movement. In short, exactly the kind of dynamic atmosphere that makes event photography so exciting. From weaving through crowds (Canada Day happening on the same day was a surprise to all of us) to documenting expressions of excitement, joyful abandonment, and celebration, I pushed myself from the starting line at Trafalgar Square to the final stretch at the Young Lovers sculpture near St. Paul’s Cathedral, just as night settled over the city.
