Journey to the End of the Night – Captured by Kasia

A race across the city… and through time.
I had the chance to photograph Journey to the End of the Night, a time-travel themed urban adventure that transformed London into a fast-paced game of speed, strategy, and survival. The journey began in the afternoon at Trafalgar Square, as players set off across the city, racing to reach the final checkpoint at the Young Lovers sculpture near St. Paul’s Cathedral, just as it was getting dark.
The mission? Navigate through five checkpoints, solve tasks at each one, and avoid being caught by the fierce Chasers. Get tagged, and you switch sides to join the hunt. Stay ahead, and you keep racing, not just through space, but across different moments in time.
The time travel theme gave the event its own unique energy, with players slipping between eras as they moved through London’s streets, parks, and landmarks. My goal was to capture the atmosphere from start to finish: the anticipation at Trafalgar Square, the tension of the chase, the fun at each checkpoint, and the feeling of victory as players reached the Young Lovers sculpture marking the end of their journey.
What I didn’t capture? The bewildered faces of passersby: from people in white headbands to checkpoint agents dressed in lab coats and eccentric outfits reenacting everything from time ruptures to funerals – the public wasn’t always sure what to make of it…
