📸 How Lighting Impacts Event Photography (and What You Can Do About It)
Discover how lighting impacts your event photos and how to make it work for you, whether you’re planning a party or corporate event in London. Practical tips from a London event photographer on using natural light and handling tricky venues, no flash overload or studio lights needed.
Journey to the End of the Night: A race across the city… and through time
Photographing the Journey definitely didn’t mean standing on the sidelines. This was by far the most energetic event photography experience I’ve had to date. I was racing between checkpoints alongside the players, camera in hand, trying to stay hydrated in the summer heat while capturing as many fun, spontaneous moments as possible. It was fast-paced, unpredictable, and full of movement. In short, exactly the kind of dynamic atmosphere that makes event photography so exciting.
Event Photography at Max in the Park 2025
Max in the Park was the kind of event that reminds me why I love living in London and being an event photographer. It’s the perfect place to enjoy live music across different genres, shop beautiful and bespoke products, eat great food and simply enjoy the moment. As part of the Brockley Max Festival, it drew families, artists, friends and neighbours to Hilly Fields in the London Borough of Lewisham for a full day of sounds and celebrations.
Event Photography: Leave the Phone in Your Pocket
We’ve all become quite skilful with our phones, and smartphones have certainly come a long way. The cameras are sharper, the features smarter, and for everyday moments they do an impressive job. But when it comes to an event that really matters, something you’ve planned, looked forward to and want to remember clearly, phone pics can still fall short in ways that only become obvious after the day is over.
Why Event Photography? My Journey from Mic to Lens
When not behind a lens shooting events, I can be found behind a mic, either in a soundproof booth or working remotely in my home office. One person, two roles: event photographer and simultaneous interpreter. It might sound like an unusual mix, but to me, it makes perfect sense. Both are about communication and connection, whether though images or words.
Solopreneur: Capturing the Person Behind the Practice
Most of my clients aren’t big brands with marketing teams. They’re solopreneurs and small business owners running passion-driven projects, such as this pranic healing and yoga practitioner from Healing with Justyna.
